The story of neural therapy, which is in use for almost 100 years, has begun with an incident that grabbed the attention of two German anesthetists, Ferdinand and Walter Huneke brothers.
Both of them have observed that when they gave a painkiller composition intravenously to their sister, whose migraine they were unable to cease before, she began feeling happy and vivacious. They thought the reason must be procaine that they gave accidentally.
Huneke brothers used procaine injections for various diseases and clinically evaluated its positive effects. In 1940, Dr. F. Huneke failed treating a patient who had a resistant pain on his right shoulder and therefore could not move his arm properly. The procaine treatment he tried on this patient was inconclusive.
After a short while, the same patient visited him again to complain about a pain on a scar on his left foot, resulting from an osteitis problem he had during his childhood. But this time, immediately after the injection, the shoulder pain was also gone.
F.Huneke defined this situation as the “flash effect” and wrote his article about remote effects of local anesthetics.
After that, F.Huneke was declared the father of neural therapy and interference field application took its place amongst treatment methods.
Today, we know that external factors which make the organism sick, cause frequency and amplitude changes in the sympathetic endings first, and cellular damage comes second. Pathologist Ricker, takes us to a journey. At the beginning of the previous century, Ricker laid emphasis on the autonomic nervous system by saying “external factors which make the organism sick, cause frequency and amplitude changes in sympathetic endings first.”
In 60s, collective works of a group of scientists in Vienna explained fundamentals of neural therapy.
The theory (cell-environmental system), developed with these studies, called “Fundamental System (Matrix) Theory” after being improved by Prof. Pischinger and Prof. Heine.
In the 1990s, Nobel awarded German physiologists Prof. Neher and Dr. Sakman studied on ion channels, the changes in information and regulation impulses. Their studies completed the scientific basis for the bio-electrical effect of procaine.
